Good Advice from a Christian Angel Investor

I recently became acquainted with Bill Murray, the man that leads Christian Angel Capital Network.  He told me that his initial due diligence on a potential investment always starts with four questions along these lines:
  1. Will your business idea honor God?
  2. Will your business idea further Kingdom purposes in terms of the Great Commission and the Great Commandment?
  3. Have you sought wise counsel from Christian brothers and sisters that have expertise in the area or industry that your idea is focused on?
  4. Will your business idea leverage your unique experiences and giftings?
We address similar questions and more in our  and our Venture Analysis and we agree with Bill that these four questions are an excellent place to start in terms of your own due diligence of an idea.

After all, ideas are cheap, but discernment is priceless.  We are reminded of this many times in Proverbs, including in chapter 2, verses 1 through 9:

"My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path."

- Proverbs 2:1-9

May you find every good path on the way to your entrepreneurial pursuits.
