I have some intellectual property that I'd like to copyright or patent.  Can you send me some names and numbers?  I'd like for them to be close, but if they're out of state I guess we could work by phone.  Thank you so much and thanks for creating this website!

First, I would recommend some quick background reading.  Start with these posts and recommended links on patents and be sure not to miss this post All About Patents and then read this post on selecting an attorney.

Given that background, I would recommend the following resources for finding a patent professional or attorney:

You will likely need to search outside of your local market for a like-minded patent professional or intellectual property (IP) attorney with the experience and skills for the product that you are desiring IP protection.  The more specific the attorney or patent professional's expertise to the industry and product type that you have, the better.  I would recommend the following next steps:

1. Check the New Venture Lab Network listings by filtering on "Legal Services" (you will need to fill in your own Network profile in order to use it)
2. Post your project (e.g. Looking for Patent Attorney) on the New Venture Lab Marketplace listing
3. Join our  and post a message or new discussion there with your project requirements
